Default Stop Drinking Site

Don't know if this has been posted before, but I came across this site today for the first time and really enjoyed alot of it, thought maybe someone else could benefit as well..............

There's some good stuff in this site, thx for sharing.

The quiz is pretty good. It's a little different than other "Do You Have a Drinking Problem?" type quizzes. I did it like I behaved when I still drank and I found it pretty accurate.

Hey, whatever floats your boat and all that, but this is easily the worst quit drinking site I have ever seen. I'd suggest that people take a look at it - I don't mind the anti-AA stuff - it's the bog standard misrepresentation - but I expect to find something useful about quitting drinking.

Worst one you ever seen, eh?

I could show you a anti-drinking site which appears pretty helpful at first but once you dig a little deeper has statements like:

"Even if you do have a problem, maybe it's not that bad, Maybe its still doing more good than harm."

Or this as one of the hangover remedies:

"Hair of the Dog can help alleviate a hangover. A Bloody Mary can do wonders"

Just peachy..

Default Selling recovery

I guess that's the main point...but - as you said, whatever floats your boat - and sometimes the key is to keep reading instead of drinking....whatever. I'm happy to be here today.

lol well I guess I haven't been around quite as much as you dsc!

Looking at the site again you know what it reads like? it reads like its written by someone who's not an alcoholic but has some ides about how alcholics should be able to stop drinking. It's both banal and at the same time full of regurgitated morsels from all over the recovery world. It reads like its written by someone who hasn't experienced those insane compulsions to drink but who imagines that because they've read about it they know what its like.

It's riddled with contradictions, and really the best thing anyone can do is entertain themselves with picking them up by the handful. It's a mess - and the longer I look at it the more I suspect that it's written by a marketeer as a hook on which to hang rehab adverts, rather than as a genuine resource for alcoholics. At least that explanation would make sense.

Just my less than humble opinion. And thanks for bringing it up Jm8.
