I agree, I quit both at the same time. The key to quitting is to never stop quitting. Almost everyone fails the first 100 times When you slip up dont plan for another quit a month later, quit that very next day again. I did this for about 4 months and eventually was able to do it because over that 4 months of start stop I was weening myself off as well as slowly dropping the habit.

Never again!

Default How to quit

I quit smoking in October 2005. I was a 20 a day plus man but once I decided enough was enough I just stopped and went cold turkey. Within a month I felt pretty okay about it but even now I occasionally find myself craving for a smoke - especially if I can smell someone smoking!

I hopefully won't smoke again but think of myself as a smoker who does not smoke rather than a non-smoker if that makes sense. I would love it if smoking was healthy, cheap and smelt good on clothes - I would be smoking now!

I used the patch. I was in no mental space the first time I quit to be able to handle the emotional parts of quitting without the extra help - it took the edge off. And for me, smoking was so tied in with who I was, and what I did all the time (every 20 minutes). I got about 10 months on my first quit, then messed around for about 5 years with smoking "only when stressed," but this November will be smoke-free for 6 years.

Alcohol-free since 6/26/2010!!!

The admiration to smoke is one of the aboriginal things you apprehension if you stop smoking. Such a moment lasts a few minutes. It comes, stays for a while and again goes. If you accept chock-full smoker recently, you will accept that admiration added generally than afterwards a few weeks. Afterwards a while, the periods amid 'wanting to smoke' get best and longer. Ultimately, the admiration to smoke diminishes. Nicotine patches, self-help books and your doctor can advice you to stop smoking. Also, bloom affliction centres usually accept appropriate "quit smoking" programs.

I hope that can be me too. I am in the change of life and feel like I am not myself anyway so I just feel like this is the time to do it. Reading all these stories is a big help.
