Sorry, seriously now....

I don't remember experiencing that. Probably just your body adjusting. Are you compensating with sugar? Too much sugar and simple carbs can produce gas and bloating. Also if you have suddenly increased your fibre. Drinking plenty of water may help.

These capsules work quite well.

Flatulence/Bloating
Peppermint relaxes the muscles that allow the body to rid itself of painful digestive gas.

Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)
A number of studies have shown the beneficial effects of enteric-coated peppermint capsules for treating symptoms of IBS, such as pain, bloating, gas, and diarrhea. (Enteric-coated capsules keep the oil from being released in the stomach, which can lead to heartburn and indigestion.) A recent study comparing enteric-coated peppermint oil capsules to placebo in children with IBS found that after 2 weeks, 75% of those treated had reduced symptoms. This is in keeping with an earlier study of adults in which 79% of participants receiving peppermint experienced a relief in the severity of pain.

Yes. the coated tablets go to the lower GI helps with diarreah and such - fennel seeds, chamoile and peppermint will all help with gas ...

its amazing the wisdom of our ancestors now forgotten - the old fashioned 'after dinner mint' - back when it actually had peppermint - actually helped with digestion. This is also the reason for the fennel candy you find in Indian resturuants.

Is there such a thing as a home colonic irrigation kit? Does anybody know a website that sells them

There is a strong link between IBS and Alcoholism. I don't have any cures, but thought you might be interested Iris.

I have averted a crisis with a long walk on the beach at sunset :) I also found a packet of dulcolax in the back of my pantry :D I have taken two and the box assures me that by tomorrow morning its gentle, effective action, will have produced a large result!

Hi Iris, I definitely, definitely, no doubt about it had that when I stopped smoking - it is very common at that point, windy, windy, bloated "quitstipation". Horrid, and lasted a few weeks.

Did not experience that, really, with quitting alcohol, except the constipation,... But considering booze's effect on the entire digestive system, I'd say don't be alarmed, follow the milder diet advice, the dulcolax may help.

My SO has always been very... airy. I have noticed that has calmed down a bit since he's laid off the drinking. It's all linked.

Take care... A walk on the beach sounds great. It's Weenserwee who always talks about being near "Big water". It is good for body and soul.
