1 Be honest with yourself

2 Make not drinking your #1 priority

3 Remember today is tomorrow, do it right now!!

4 Why am I quitting?

5 What are my benefits for quitting?

6 What is my goal?

7 Make a list of reasons!

8 don't drink

9 Eat well

10 Get rid of all alcohol

11 Remember you will never feel as bad as your worse hangover

12 Find a substitute drink

13 You may need some sleep aids, vitamins and Epsom salts

14 Love your self

15 Laugh

16 Post a lot

17 Start a Diary

18 Remember you have friends here who know what you are going through and will help

19 Remember every morning why you wanted to quit

20 Don't plan to drink tomorrow

21 find SOMETHING to do with the extra time on your hands

22 Plan alternative activities during your normal drinking times

23 Identify triggers to drinking, pre-plan ways to deal with them or avoid them until you can deal with them

24 Get a hug

25 Give a hug

26 Don't just be sober, be happy.

27 Get and read a good book

28 Most goal that are not attained were never written down

29. Get a white board and put down things you need to get done (You can not say you are bored
this way)

30 Today is a dam good day to not drink

31 Flip off your drinking establishments instead of avoiding them, the royal bird sent to the local pubs as you drive or wander by.

32 Don't overthink

33 NEVER be hungry. HUNGRY = CRAVINGS.

34 Ask yourself what value alcohol holds for you. Take each answer and analyze it and try to see it for what it really is.

LOL I don't know what happend to 30 someone come up with one. As for 31 I recall going to a grocery, marching right into the beer isle and flipping off a case of bud light. Some lady looked at me real weird. I still flip the bar off even though I go in and have a bite to eat there now and then

I think this should be re-visted for us who need steps to follow. I know I do and this is a good start.

Thanks

This list was made by a lot of us at the very first sight. We also had suggestions but I lost that during the move. If anyone can think of anything to add you are more then welcome to add to it

Don't overthink. YOUR's, Rich. And it's still the best one yet.

Don't think about forever. Just don't drink today. Repeat tomorrow.

Healthy snacks.

NEVER be hungry. HUNGRY = CRAVINGS.

Have a big snack an hour or so before you usual start drinking time.

This is so true! I found that my cravings went last night after I ate! When I get home from work (danger time) I'm having a healthy snack.

Rich,

Your list is brilliant. I'm a great believer in lists. One thing I did when I decided to stop drinking a couple of months ago was write a long list of reasons why I should quit alcohol. I got to number 45!

Now the list is stuck to my fridge and I look at it every day, it really helps me remember why I am so much better off without alcohol.
