GOOD MORNING!
I wish I could find the original to Sun's frittata. She asked me "Why are you taking a picture of that?"
Because its beautiful, I answered.
"I'm going to post it for the world to see.
Just think love, your frittata will be on the world wide web!"
"It did turn out nice didn't it, okay, you goof, whatever floats your boat"
Later in the mad man moon studio down the hall.
"Why did you put a bald mans face on my frittata?"
"Honey sun I am just seeing if the gang is paying attention is all"
"And this is what you do here?"
"Well, yeah."
"It looked better without the face"
"Who is it anyway"
"It's Jonas!"
"Oh God, you need a new hobby"
:D
Have great days everyone! And by the way, the ginger dill moonbroth is fabulous! I highly recommend it.

The coffee makes sense Roxanne, but I don't think there is actually life without ice cream!!! :D
cold here this morning, icy rain last night, I just cant resisist my hazelnut coffee on mornings like this. some days I have none, some days I make a few of light brown coffee, but today I am enjoying a few strong cups.
Rox, giving up ice cream? your..... your.... just quitting.... and thats it??
I have eliminated allmost all sugar from my diet, (like pop, candy) except like ketchup and I think my trail mix has sugared pineapple chunks in it. The sugar made me, unbalanced. After a bit I couldn't think right. With a meal I might consider still having a dessert, I really love apple pie and ice cream, but rarely have the opportunity.

unfortunately, I am being the same way with my coffee,as you are with the ice cream, getting all "i'll just have these few cups, then wanting more, cutting back etc..... AND, my blood pressure scared me this morning. SOOoooooo
I ditched the sugar allready, mostly, and now its time to switch to green tea, no more coffee :( its easier to trade for green tea, than it is to try to "moderate".
Interesting how having an addiction, how its easy to just transfer it to something else, food, sugar, coffee, cigs, excercise (thats the one I need).
So, I am trying to not think of it as a bad thing, just that I got in the habit of choosing a bad outlet for my obbsessive behavior, drinking. I don't want it to be coffee, so, goodbye Hazelnut mornings, and hello, Tazo Zen green tea.
:)

2 mashed ripe bananas (about 2/3 cup)
Heapin' globs o' peanut butter :p
1 cup milk
2 t vanilla extract
1/2 t cinnamon
Dash of nutmeg
METHOD
Mix the dry ingredients together.
Mash the banana and peanut butter in a separate mixing bowl; into this bowl mix the milk and vanilla extract. Pour the liquid ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until well combined.
Heat a griddle on medium high heat. Put 1/4 cup of batter on the griddle for each pancake. When the pancake begins to bubble, turn it over and cook til golden brown.
My boys like these with maple syrup but I prefer mine with a light drizzling of honey. If you're feeling particularly indulgent you can have what my husband refers to as the "Elvis' Sunrise Special" which is two PB/banana pancakes with a fistful of bacon sandwiched between them. Syrup, honey or defibrillator are optional.

So I am up early after having risen to do PT on one of our pacas who has been down with a parasite-related illness that left her partially, hopefully temporarily, paralyzed in her back legs. But for the past two days she has been standing and walking, so I can't really do the PT... just stand there and watch her and thank goddesses that she's unbelievably, incredibly mobile when I was pretty sure we'd have to deal with this for the next few months... she's a tough gal.
But I could sure use some hot java out of one of dem dere pots.

I'm still a solid 20 oz. house coffee with two shots of espresso. Gave up deluding myself that the caffeine was gonna go out with the booze! Found a great looking recipe for oatmeal scones in the paper today so I just stuck a batch in the oven with some dried cranberries and orange zest mixed in. When I'm not drinking I tend to bake like a madwoman!
OATMEAL SCONES
11/2 cups old-fashioned or quick-cooking oatmeal, uncooked
1/4 cup whole milk
1/4 cup whipping cream
1 egg
11/2 cups unbleached all-purpose flour, preferably Gold Medal or Pillsbury
1/3 cup granulated sugar, plus 1 tablespoon for sprinkling (divided)
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup plus 2 tablespoons cold unsalted butter, cut into 1/4-inch cubes (11/4 sticks)
Position rack in the middle of the oven and preheat oven to 375 degrees. Spread the oatmeal evenly on a baking sheet and toast until it is fragrant and lightly browned, 7 to 9 minutes; cool oatmeal in baking sheet on a wire rack. Increase the oven temperature to 450 degrees. Line a light-colored baking sheet with parchment paper; set aside. When the oatmeal is cool, measure out 2 tablespoons (for dusting the work surface) and set aside.
Whisk the milk, cream and egg in a large measuring cup until incorporated; remove 1 tablespoon to a small bowl and reserve for glazing.
Place the flour, 1/3 cup sugar, baking powder and salt in the bowl of a food processor fitted with the metal blade and process until combined, about four 1-second pulses. Scatter the cold butter evenly over the dry ingredients and process until the mixture resembles coarse cornmeal, 12 to 14 one-second pulses. Transfer the mixture to a medium bowl; stir in the oatmeal. Using a rubber spatula, fold in the liquid ingredients until large clumps form. Using your hands, gently knead the mixture in the bowl until the dough forms a cohesive mass.
Dust the work surface with half of the reserved oatmeal, turn the dough out onto the work surface, and dust the top with the remaining oatmeal. Gently pat the dough into a 7-inch circle about 1 inch thick. Cut the dough into 8 wedges and set on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart. Brush the surfaces with the reserved milk-and-egg mixture and sprinkle with remaining 1 tablespoon sugar. Bake until golden brown, 12 to 14 minutes; cool scones on the baking sheet on a wire rack 5 minutes, then remove scones to a wire rack and cool to room temperature, about 30 minutes.
Roxanne...

Thanks for the recipe Jenna...............mqaybe I'll have a chance to try it over the holidays. I love to bake when the boys are home.
I have pretty much switched to green, white or oolong tea. It has just a little caffeine plus theonine which makes you feel great in the morning. aAso plenty of antioxidants.................it is alkaline rather than acidic like coffee so it is easier on the stomach.

Man, I walk into the kitchen, and there's not even the smell of coffee brewing. Well, I'm putting in some homemade cinnamon toast like my granny used to fix for me as a child, and making some fresh hot coffee and even throw some hot water on for those creative teas on the counter.
If I wasn't already stuck at work, I'd make some deviant sausage gravy for the young adults that haven't clogged their arteries yet, so they can taste some country sausage gravy on homemade bisquits. Fried bacon, Pancakes on the griddle, Eggs crispy on the edges, along with some western omelets with a little extra red pepper for a south of the border aroma.
Both my sets of grandparents lived into their 90's, and yet they ate from the menu above everyday. Of course they worked or took long walks, or took care of the garden and the animals at the same time.
I miss their yesterdays.

Moonbroth!
As posted by Moon of course!!:D
Light vegetable stockMakes about 9 cups
1 tablespoon olive oil
2 cups finely diced leeks, white part only (about 2 to 3)
1 cup finely diced carrots (about 3 medium)
1 cup finely diced celery (about 2 stalks)
3 whole cloves garlic, peeled
6 peppercorns
1 bay leaf
2 sprigs parsley
2 sprigs fennel
1 sprig thyme
Heat oil in tall 8-quart stockpot over medium-high heat. Add leeks,
carrots and celery and cook until tender, about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Add garlic, peppercorns, bay leaf, parsley, fennel and thyme. Add 10 cups cold water.
Bring to boil over high heat, then reduce heat, cover and cook at a hard simmer 35 minutes.
Remove the pot from heat. Strain stock through fine mesh strainer,
gently pressing vegetables to extract liquid. Discard vegetables.
Now I also add turnips, red bell pepper and some fresh quarted tomatoes. But you can really
use anything you've got on hand. You can also roast your veggies first and that gives them
more flavor. But for a nice morning beverage I like it light.
Now I don't fuss with finely chopped just a course chop will do.
And I have never used the fennel.
In fact I am off to the market right now for all the fixin's I'm makeing a vegetable
soup for supper, Kinda like a minestrone.White beans, cabbage, zuccini, green beans and
shell pasta. YUM!
Don't you dare add APPLES, Happy ! :D

Absence does make the Q-heart grow fonder, doesn't it Happy? :) Had our first costume fitting for "Grease" last night -- apparently my character is quite a little tramp! Having a light breakfast of fruit and yogurt in anticipation of s-q-u-e-e-z-i-n-g into those tight pencil skirts.

Lately we have been on a Sunday Q fast. It really does make the heart grow fonder Happy.
Jenna.......You are going to have to post a pic of yourself in costume. Hope you're having fun with the rehearsals.
I had to have an Oatmeal Raisin Cliff bar for breakfast because I haven't made it to the grocery store yet since vacation. I'd better go today.

Mornin' Everyone!
I just made a pot of tea and am enjoying it with an oatmeal raisin bar.
If you have not yet read India's White Wine post in Let's Quit you should do so immediately. It is a great way to start the day.

I always mean to get a reg. coffee or tea but at school they sell this damn oreo shake. it's so good and evil and it's fattening me up. I don't know what to do. I've thought of causing some kind of riot and stealing all their Oreos.

Hey Rox!
Rehearsals are going GREAT! I am having such a blast. We choreographed the "hand jive" dance last night and I am one sore chicky today. :p Opening night is in 23 days so folks are getting a little tense, but we'll be ready.

Well, I guess I'd better stop remeniscing about QStock and get this Coffee Shop open. I have already had one complaint from our very own Limey Bastard who for some reason feels that he shouldn't have to do any work in here. He would rather sit around shooting the breeze with Happy while I slave over a hot stove all morning. Humph!

Mornin' Everyone!!!
I was hoping maybe Happy or that Limey Bastard would have opened up for me this morning since I have early yoga but apparantly that was asking just a little too much. Jenna is excused because she lives on the west coast and is probably still asleep, as is Jay because I am afraid of his cooking.
Coffee's on!!!!!

Good Morning Happy and Rox,
are you early risers or am I just up late on a Saturday morning? I never could work out the time change between countries, too much like hard math.
Mmmm that coffee smells good Rox. I've recently discovered how to order my coffee, just ask for Americano, strong black coffee with a small amount of cold milk. Americano cuts out all the BS. We're just catching up here on complicated coffee ordering. You'd need a degree! Far too many options, used to just be coffee or tea!
Katy
:)
Good morning, Rox,
I am on half and half now, half decaf beans, and half my hazelnut that I love.
Where is Ronnies Bananna bread, I want some before its all gone! :D

Morning all
I intended to open up for you this morning, but got a bit sidetracked. Anyway, a certain Canadian says that you get a bit shirty if things aren’t done exactly the way you like them. He is right that nobody else makes the coffee as good as you – it’s a fact. . Anyway, I have just got back from my first ever yoga class – so I think I’ll have one of them funny teas instead

Way to go Happy!!!!! I am so proud of you. And you even made a pot of tea. I love that little monkey sitting on the coffeemaker.
DW.....................I used to do half and half too until I switched to tea. It is a good way to ease out of hightest, which made me jittery. I'm sure it didn't help my sleep problems any either. Now I am sleeping great.
Katy........We have Americano this morning just for you.:)
