Just a question - men welcome to answer with your experiences (with your partners, sisters, mothers etc - not personally).
For anyone who had/has bad PMS did u find it improved after quitting?
thanx, feebee

Hugely! I also started taking Evening Primrose and Linseed oils (oil and/or capsules) and Vitamin B complex. There has been a massive difference in my whole cycle, not just PMS. I used to have my period for a good week and had terrible cramps for the 1st 3 or 4 days, not to mention the physical and emotional build up, which was anything up to 10 days before: sore boobs, painful ovulation, depression, the works!! I used to drink more at that time too. Now a days, my period sneaks up on me and I don't have to take pain killers at all, I still have the occasional "Grumpy Old Woman" days, but they are rare now and much less intense.

WTF kind of question is that! Just kidding..haha...it has not improved for me at the moment but I only have 2 months. I'll let you know at 6 months. My ability to control my emotions is getting a lot better though. I and others have told me that I have some major PMS at times. I tried to take Prim Rose but it was causing some stomach issues of some sort. I was told gettin on the pill would help but I refuse at the moment.
Hope things get sorted out for you because I know damn well how you are feeling. Its a PITA for sure. I hate myself at times...actually I just wrote about a mood swing I just got through...phew..it was nasty.
Take care,
Hoots

Really? I'm surprised... did you try the capsules? you just swallow them like a pill. Try the Linseed oil, it might suit you better.

It will, take the vitamins and the Omegas, and you won't know yourself next month, you need to take them every day though.
By the way, I love your avatar.

Since I quit I've had a couple rounds with pms that were reallly emotionallll, more so than before.
Here lately, it's more leveled out, I'm cranky but not sobbing uncontrollably or yelling at anyone, yet, so I think it is better.

Brigit, I know I'm starting to sound like a born again Christian, but try taking the Primrose and Linseed oils, take them every morning and see how you feel next month. Get them from a health food shop, you can get them in capsule form, it's handier to take.

I have to agree with Annie on the Omegas and th eEvening Primrose oil. It's hard to find something they're not good for. If I only took one supplement a day it would be the Omega 3's.

Annie I was taking capusles that had some liquid inside. It was causing a lot of pain in my stomach area every time I took them..like a sharp staping pain. I was told to take St Johns Wart too but that was giving me shooting head pains and a rash. Perhaps its just over the counter herbals that don't agree with me.

I'm so surprised to hear that Hoots, and I'm no expert, but I found quite the contrary, as after a while, the oil creates a light lining in the stomach and intestines and eases acid and ulcer symptoms... Were you still drinking when you tried them? You do need to get them in a health food shop, as with every things else, there are all sorts and the ones on supermarket shelves tend not to be very good.
If you feel like it, try taking just the Linseed (Flax) oil, in oil form, (not capsules) take it with a little yoghurt in the morning, and see how you get on...

I can’t speak to the change in my PMS symptoms after quitting drinking, but most of my systems did go away after my hysterectomy!!!!:D

Oh, how many times did I thinking about having a selective one!, especially after my beautician had one (not by choice) and is so happy about it.

I think they should be offered free if a woman is finished having children.:p

I agree! I had a right ol' rant early in my quit, my cycle was so bad, I even put my womb up for sale: 1 owner, 2 previous tenants etc... here's the pic, nice eh?:p

I always thought I never got PMS or PMT , I never got any "symptons" , being on marina(think that is the name ) coil ....However ...........
After keeping a journal here and noticing the mad mood swings and muderous thoughts that I have every now and then, looked back through my journal and noticed they were occuring every four weeks ...Doh !
So no ....my PMS has not changed ..I am just aware of them now !...i must try the primrose, omega and linseed Annie !!!
