I went for a long walk with new snow clogs. By the time I reached my destination I was limping. I have a hole in my heel three skin layers deep. It has been a week and I put those special bandaids on but it still hurts.
Any ideas to help it heal faster so I can go try on new running shoes?
thanks

I used to work in an athletic training room and the trainer used to mix triple antibiotic with a lil bit of vaseline. Make a small hole in the blister and drain it then squirt the stuff into the blister filling the entire blister up, then cover it with a patch for a day or so. Take it off and let it dry out and whala...it was healed.
I would just suggest you let it dry out as much as you can though and don't pop it could cause an infection. I say if it gets worse you could go to yer doctor.
Orrr you can make a donut hole out of some foam and then place the foam around the blister so that the blister is seen through the donut hole. Wrap lightly and the blister won't rub against your shoe.
Hope it gets better...

I would do the donut hole thing then...it works wonders if its thick enough. I hate blisters!

You can make a little paste with warm water and epsom salts, leave it on over night. It will help it dry up and heal faster, it will sting big time but it works.

OK, Rach here is what you need to do.
You need to get a pair of form fitting inner socks, thin, made of wicking material....you can get them in a running store, or at an outdoor store/sporting goods/hunting store...polypropelene is what you need.
Then, over those socks you need to wear a pair of wool socks. This is the best hiking combination! I used to hike a ton when I lived in California and this method has never failed me.

When I got home form my meeting, I took off my blister bandaid and my heel was all red and swollen. So I wrote with a pen around it to check this morning. It is better this morning but will keep an eye on it. If it get bad again I am going to the doctors
that is what I get for trying to get healthy:eek:

as an ironman level athelte, I deal with blisters and "hot spots" on my feet constantly.
I have found the best treatment to be "ignore and continue"
the more effort, and stuff, I put on my blisters and such, the worse they get.
I also put vaseline on my feet before my socks on any long runs or rides.
