not a thread about if it works, I have been going since day 2 of my quit and they are much more enjoyable than i ever thought but I am always being hassled to go to more

I do 3 to 4 a week, which I think is ok

in the new year i want to cut back to 3, basically lose my friday night meeting as it bugs me at the end of a working week that I have to go. Its not AV i would just like to look forward to going to the gym, getting a movie, doing nothing

so, how many do you go to?

Hi Jonesing

I am on day 26 of quitting and I to started going to AA on day 2 but so far I only go once a week. The thing for me is I am very busy with work, three children and my wife so I don't feel I have the time to attend more meetings. That being said, I have a list of meetings close by and if it came down to really needing support to avoid drinking then I would go and my family understands that. I found at the first night I went a lot of people suggested I go more often and some seemed skeptical when I said I would only be coming once a week but so far it works for me. I would just do what works best for you and don't worry too much if some feel you are falling off the wagon by skipping friday night. As long as you know in your heart that you are ok without the friday meeting then fine. Thats my two cents :-) Take care

thanks dawg, AA theory is one meeting a week is never enough though. although i am looking at dropping one i think one isnt enough

i asked a guy at a meeting how many meetings a week i need, "one more than you actually go to" was his odd reply

I go. I feel like I want to go daily but I live so far away. Let's see how many I make it to once I move.

Right now, I'm averaging 3-4 meetings a week.

With AA, I find I need to keep my sense of humor. Don't take everything way too serious.

The God freaks, the freaks, and the Big Book Freaks. ok in moderation. Not so good all the time 24/7.

I do one meeting and yes ppl hassle me to go to more too. I think really its all about being around sober ppl and giving something for you to do. Keeping you strong.

I on the other hand get burned out and I get bored rather easily.

So I am choosing to do several programs to support my quit such as, Addiction Counseling, AA, WQD, Books on Sobriety and then my new routines such as, Working out when my neck gets better, going back to work, reading other books, movies, getting back into community events and volunterring, checking out Yoga, working on a new career or part-time career and so forth.

Its what will work for you...there are so many ways to go about it but if you feel like yer slippin' maybe think about goin back to the routine that was working for you.

I always feel better after not going to a meeting.
I've not gone to them for years, and it definately helps me maintain an even keel in life.
