We have the greatest Mod Squad in the world, no doubt. Which is, why I am comfortable leaving WQD in their hands every once in a while. This time it's me taking a leave with limited access to the Interwebs from the 27th for about a month.
No fears, though, I am not completely gone. Both site issues (hardware/software) and member problems (PM, that stuff) should still be handled, just not in the fastest manner.
In case it hasn't percolated into the forums, just yet, it's a very happy occasion - and I'll post some pictures of it soon. I decided to take on some additional responsibilities and become what they'd call a duly inducted adult by applying for, and now executing, the right to dig through the adoption grab bag and pull out a newly minted inhabitant of this fine planet. Next week is the big day and I guess I'll be busy learning how to slap diapers onto things that pee merrily while one does so.

I just had a baby 12 weeks and 1 day ago. Take the advice above, get sleep while you can.
2 books I HIGHLY recommend are The Happiest Baby on the Block by Harvey Karp and The Fussy Baby Book by William Sears. Also a great website for information about babies is AskDrSears.com. And moby wraps are wonderful.

One more piece of unsolicited advice :) don't listen to anyone who tells you to let the baby "cry it out" or that crying is good for them or that you'll spoil the baby by holding it too much. And, always listen to your instincts.

Boy. I bought many girls clothes to shame him right from the start. Won't be too cocky bringing girls home when he's 16 if there's a chance of me showing him in a skirt on old pictures.

I have a deal, a breast pump, and a fridge. The donor gets paid in babysitter hours (I watch her daughter, she fills the bottles) and I try to get at least a 4:1 (4 breast milk, 1 artificial) ratio going for the first three months. I won't strap on a manboob, though, and emulate that. Bottle has to suffice.

That is great big cajones. I am happy for you.
Take videos, take pictures. I laugh all the time at the "old" Scallywag stuff and she is only 3.
Mom never sees the changes because she is with Scallywag everyday. I can see the changes on a weekly or bimonthly manner. They all know I'm camera happy.
Big changes. I don't think we'll see too much of you for about 2 years. haha

Well, it's all signed and counter-signed and counter-counter-signed, notarized, duly sworn, duly recorded, re-notarized, paid for, and duly re-sworn.
Since this is a newborn, we'll spend the next few days in the Hospital together. Misha is very healthy at 8.9 lbs (a HUGE kid). Getting that tiny hand to grab my finger and him dozing off dreamily when I held him makes those grueling 39 hours sitting on a chair outside the ward, watching cops drag drunk people through and whole families camp out in sleeping bags (I am not "family" until he was born and signed over) worth every second.
He'll be double-checked due to the youth of the mother and the potential issues arising legally if something happens to him, and then we'll go and get us a nice bed upstairs and see who of us snores more.
