I know I know... Alot are thinking get out and socialize. Its not that easy at least for myself. I'm somewhat introverted but I have friends that will hang out with me if I wanted. But the last year I lost my license because of a DWI (which I got back this July). Most of my friends drifted away and are starting lives of their own. Who I know either drink every night or are a binge drinker.
Also with my dad committing suicide I've been in a very vulnerable position the past year. I've been sequestering myself in my room watching TV and drinking. Or piddling on the computer and drinking.. Pretty much every night for close to a year now. My drinking is mainly what keeps me from getting out and socializing because I'm petrified of getting another DWI/DUI. I don't have money for inpatient and I would more than likely lose my job if I did...
I need a few pointers if not direct orders from anyone who can give em.

Hi Max,
I am smiling at the choice of your username.
I will not give any sorts of direct orders but I will give you some suggestions.
You are here because drinking has become a problem.
You have come to a great place since there is a lot of support here as well as a lot of wisdom and information.
Make a commitment to stop.
If quitting forever sounds way too over the top, make a commitment for thirty days.
Some here made a thirty day commitment and at the end of thirty days realized they do not ever want to go back to the place and shape they were in, and said I want another good thirty days in my life.
That all had such obvious positive impact on their lives they kept going.
Start a journal in the diaries and journals section.
Pick a name for the thread that has some sort of positive meaning for you since that will become the title of your journal.
Read a lot. Post a lot.
You will learn a lot and it will reinforce your goals to get your life back.
So if you want, that last part can be my "request" to you, not an order.
I am sorry to hear of your father's suicide. A few warriors here also had that tragedy in their lives and it was very difficult for them as well.
All you need to focus on is don't drink today. One day at a time.
Continuing the path of drinking you already know will have long term consequences. You can choose to have happy and positive things in your life instead instead of drowning your dreams in a bottle and watching your life slip away.
I look forward to reading your journal, and to hear of your commitment.
wishing you all the best, and congratulations on getting your life back

Well, I would start by cleaning your room....spotless. I mean clean the sheets, move your bedroom around, dust the corners, clean out your closet and drawers...give stuff you dont want or wear to charity. Get all those bottles out and in the dumpster.
You need a clean fresh start..oh and wash the underwear you got on...you been wearing those for years now :D...I know how guys are! Filthy animals :D
On the real side, you need a fresh start...a different routine. Maybe not get out and socialize with people but at least get some fresh air. Go for a walk, bike ride, rollerblade..anything to get yer blood pumping. You will be amazed at what it will do for you...self-esteem, confidence, health...its good for you.
WQD is one fresh start and a good routine to have :D...good job!
You are a good person...keep it up!
Stay strong,

yo max, i was just like you before I quit drinking, always locked up in my room drinking mass amounts of alcohol, surfin the web and watching national geographic until 5am.
things will get better in time. I bought a bike, and though that didn't help me meet many people, a friendly nod or a "hi" from strangers even felt great. It was a great way to warm up to the outside world and to get some fresh air and exercise as well.
The library is also an awesome place to go, free music, books and magazines.
There are tons of things to do, just look in your local paper for some other ideas.
I'm really looking forward to our sweet corn festival this weekend.. oh man... drool
good luck!
